Three-time British Rally Champion Mark Higgins is no stranger to breaking records on the famous Isle of Man TT Course. He’s set numerous records there while driving Subarus over the years, and now he’s getting ready to break another one. This time, with the help of Prodrive.
Prodrive is a motorsport and engineering group that earned its fame for building Subaru rally cars in the 1990s and 2000s. To help Higgins break the Isle of Man record another time, the company will be tuning a WRX STI (specs yet to be revealed). For motorsport enthusiasts like ourselves at Schlossmann Subaru, seeing them come together again is somewhat magical.
The current Isle of Man record was set in 2014 by Higgins when he went around the 37-mile course in just 19 minutes and 15 seconds. If that’s not impressive enough, he did it with a totally stock 2015 Subaru WRX STI. Once he gets behind the wheel of the Prodrive-tuned WRX STI, there’s all the reason to believe he might finally break into the 18-minute range.
