School will be starting back up in the next couple of weeks, so now is the perfect time to get your kids ready and get everything the need for the upcoming year. Here are some tips for back to school prep to keep it simple and low-stress.
Make a shopping list
Before you go, write down everything you need to buy. Once you’re at the store, you can check it off as you go. This will help you stay organized, make sure you get everything and avoid buying doubles. Put everything your kid needs on it—school supplies, new clothes, etc.—and make a grocery list of quick breakfast foods and pack lunch items.
Stock up your car
Don’t forget to equip your car with morning necessities too. Keep breakfast bars, tissues, and other items in a hanging organizer on the back of your seat your kids can reach into. Perfect for when you’re running late and miss breakfast.
Out with the old
Since you’re getting new clothes and supplies, get rid of as much old stuff as you can. Go through clothes that don’t fit or they don’t like anymore, broken and worn supplies, and other worn down items, and add anything that needs replaced to your shopping list.
The key to de-stressing is organization. There are lots of ways to do this—by making schedules and to-do lists, posting a daily routine where everyone can see it, and even doing meal prep one day a week for easy, fast cooking during the rest of the week. It sounds like a lot of work, but it saves tons of time and will reduce your stress throughout the week.
